I've decided that Spring is my favorite season in the northwest. I've spent the majority of my life in upstate New York where Fall was my favorite. The leaves changing color on the trees and the crispness to the air among other things was why.
Here, spring is the season with intensity. You literally can feel it. It rains here a lot, as everyone knows, and I think when the sun makes it appearances after January, its a different sun than the one you see from time to time in the winter. The particularly odd thing about it is that even though it is always green here as opposed to New York and even though spring comes slowly in both places, it is more transforming here. You're ready for something new to begin. I'm ready.

Today I took a walk through the Bellevue Botanical Garden near my home. I have never been there before and it was a great day for a walk. Just a bit too early to see that plants. It was cool to see the crocuses, since I love them so, and I'll have to come back again soon. I saw a hummingbird in the woods there today and that was truly cool.

My New Hat

I finally finished knitting this hat I have been working on since the Fall. It was my "work Project" meaning it was something I knitted at work at lunchtime. I always want to be knitting so I usually have at least two projects going on semi simultaneously. My second project is my "home project" which you already may have guessed, I work on at home!


This project is called "guinan" and it is named after Whoopi Goldberg's character on Star Trek Next Generation. It is a free pattern available at Ravelry, the coolest site on the web. As far as I am concerned.


I am thinking about doing a fingerless glove pattern next at work. I try to do easy quick stuff at work since I don't have much time to knit there.

These are my two kids. Unfortunately, I do not take photos of them very often since they became teenagers. They stopped being photogenic around age nine! But in this photo outside the Komodo Dragon exhibit, they are smiling easily like they did as little boys

February

Hello sunshine. Today I start something new. It's February and like every February, I start itching to do something new. And boy is this new for me. I don't talk alot very often and God knows I probably won't write here as frequently as most. But every February I am compelled to step outside my comfort zone. And Hey! Today I feel like talking. Not a bad start.
